HISTORY
Pauliina May has been studying vocal jazz in Pop/Jazz
Conservatory, Finland (1992-96) and Rotterdams Conservatorium
in Holland (1996 -2000).
She has been studying with jazz singers/teachers, such
as Madeline
Eastman, Mark
Murphy, Christine Correa, Denise
Jannah, and Nancy Marano.
She had her own jazz quartet and she performed with several
jazz musicians in Finland before moving to Holland.
THE SECOND PRICE OF THE ERASMUS JAZZ PRICE!
Pauliina
May won the second price in a Jazz Contest 2001 (Erasmus
Jazzprijs) held in Rotterdam, Holland. All the candidates
were nominated into this contest. The contest had two
rounds. The first round was held on March, 11th, where
she was chosen to the final on March 18th. The first price
was given to a trombone player Louk Boudesteijn (Holland).
The yearly Erasmus Jazz Price was organised on 2001 the
sixth time by the Concert - and Congress Hall, de Doelen,
the organisation "Friends of the Rotterdams Conservatorium"
and the Doelen Café.
Pauliina May played the competition together with her
group "Pauliina May Jazz Combo": Milan Bonger,
s.&altosaxophones, Marc Bischoff, piano, Alex Milo,
bass and Gijs Dijkhuizen, drums.
Pauliina May is available with professional
jazz musicians from Holland from formations of a duo to
a quintet:
